System Implementation & Business Process Reengineering

Lifecycle Continuum
Project Planning, Scoping and Estimating, SOFGEN GRID™

Underlying all plans, schedules and work breakdown structures is the SOFGEN GRID™ which breaks down every implementation project into approximately 1,600 constituent activities, 800 for the customer and 800 for SOFGEN and its partners in the case of a complete implementation, less if the project is smaller. The SOFGEN GRID clearly lays out the time commitments of the customer as well as each consultant and third-party vendor involved in the project.

The SOFGEN GRID provides a basis for ensuring that the customer invests the time necessary in order to take ownership of the system and as a result it plays a key role in ensuring that the implementation is delivered within budget. Adhering to the SOFGEN GRID ensures that the customer will not be dependent on consultants or third-party vendors once the project goes live, the single biggest cause of implementation budget overruns.

Naturally, a single tool cannot replace project management, executive management support and end user involvement. The SOFGEN GRID does however provide management with a critical tool and early warning mechanism should the project be drifting off track, thereby enabling corrective action to be taken quickly and decisively.
