TAILORED SOLUTIONS FOR BANKS

System Implementation & Business Process Reengineering

Lifecycle Continuum
Functional and Technical Design

The Functional and Technical Design expands upon the Business Requirements Analysis. Where the business analysis describes needs, the Functional and Technical Design describes the complete solution to the bank, the Design Document being the deliverable.

The following activities are undertaken in order to obtain the required inputs to the Design Document:
  • Business Process Reengineering (where this necessity has been identified)
  • Gap Analysis
  • Functional Analysis of Customizations and local developments
  • Technical Analysis of Customizations and local developments
  • System Architecture and Planning

SOFGEN consultants´ knowledge of the products with which we work enable us to minimize the number and scope of any local developments, thereby lowering maintenance overhead and decreasing the Total Cost of Ownership of the system.

The Design Document typically comprises:

  1. Final Project Charter
    1. Scope Refinement
    2. Final Project Organization
    3. Final Scope Statement
    4. Resource Estimation and Planning

  2. Environment & System Infrastructure Definition, Design and Final Planning

  3. Risk Analysis

  4. QA and Control Procedures (QIP)

  5. Full System Design (expanded from the Business Requirements Analysis)
    1. Solution Definition
    2. b. As-Is Input, Output, Process Definition

  6. Full Process Design (expanded from the Business Requirements Analysis) and reengineering
    1. "To Be" Process, Input, Output Definition
    2. Detailed Gap Analysis between Solution Design and Model Bank (based on Macro Gap analysis, Macro Solution Design, Macro Interface Design and iterative design adjustments to same)
    3. Detailed Local Development Requirements

  7. Final Solution Design

  8. Detailed Configuration & Local Development Functional and Technical Specifications

  9. Final Interface Design
    1. As-Is Structure Analysis
    2. To-Be Infrastructure Design
    3. Specific Interface Solution Design

  10. The Design Document may address any final decisions on phased delivery of the solution, either with respect to a single site or with respect to rollouts for multiple sites.

A final SOFGEN GRID and definitive project estimate (final project plan & work breakdown structure) covering complete effort for system delivery is prepared.
