System Implementation & Business Process Reengineering
Benchmarking & Performance Tuning
Depending upon data and transaction volumes, it may be decided to conduct benchmarking tests, in order to insure that the system solution will work adequately on a particular hardware and networking configuration.
SOFGEN has extensive experience conducting benchmarking exercises on a variety of server platforms, including IBM, HP, and Sun. Leading hardware vendors provide sophisticated offsite environments which simulate network traffic so as to enable banks to ensure that any envisaged system can handle expected data and transaction loads.
The following are the most common benchmark success criteria:
- COB Performance Targets: EOD, EOM and EOY
- Batch Performance Targets: Booking, Block Ordering, Market Value calculations, Rebalancing, Reporting, Client Statement Generation
- Online Performance Targets: Customer Account Opening and Teller activities, contracts processing, advice printing, various on-screen enquiries
- eBanking Performance Targets: Login and validation,
- Interfacing Targets: Price updates, Exchange rate updates, Interest rate updates,
Typically load volumes are specified for each of the transactions above and target durations are agreed.
Remedial action can involve further optimization of some or all of the following:
- Server and or Client Configurations
- Network Architecture
- Vendor Software Code
- Coding of customizations and local developments
